Lads lads, what rods for tigging m/s, what for tigging 316 s/s? I'm on a shopping mission but don't know what to ask for. And I guarantee if I get it wrong the boc lads won't help cos they know less than me!
At Tradequip go for the 'BOC Steel A15 Rod 2.5kg' 1.6mm or 2.4mm. Black tube, red caps!
Price before discount:1.6mm = £16.78 plus vat, 2.4mm = 14.55 plus vat.
S/S - dunno, gorra load of Lincoln rods in the shop so aint buying any at the moment.
Got the torch, gas tomorrow unless the rain goes away in which case i've got 20 odd litres of paint with my boats name on it! (it'll take weeks).
This v200s set can take a remote, so I might rig up a foot pedal eventually. Got the manual and wiring diags today - phoned Lincoln, emailed straight through. Stars.

I spoke to a very helpful and efficient chap called Paul Goodall. I was very impressed - most professional lot i've dealt with for ages (unlike the Bank, Mobile phone co, or inland revenue, who are all fools!, but fools with my money, so they cant be that stupid!)
Hey Paul... much better on the welds. It's tuff to try and perfect the bead appearance without the foot pedal, so with that you could drop a few amps and compensate for the heat build up. You could also try to dump more wire in there, push it in, don't just let it melt in. Maybe tighten you space between dips. The biggest thing you need to do so work on those tie offs at the end of the bead, gotta lose the divet.
