tig welding with co2

the company i work for recently got a new silverline 200amp inveter mainly bought for stick welding heavey plate all we use as gas on are migs are pub gas c02 ive seen a kit that allows you to use this machine for tig use

my qustion is can i tig weld with co2 or cant it be done?

No, you'll need pure argon.

You'll burn a lot of tungstens and make what probably looks like a weld but the carbon in the gas will contaminate the weld instead of shielding it. Carbon Dioxide is not inert gas.

I think co2 makes the arc hotter thats why the tungsten burns.

The tungsten gets hot and reacts with the gas.
