Hi, ive been looking for tig gasses for tig welding steel, as thats all ill be doing. I was firstly wondering whats best for it, as ive been looking at pure argon and at argon/he(alushield) mixes. I was wondering if one will perform better than the other at dc tig welding steel. I have benn given a quote of £30 for refilling pure argon and £57 for refilling alushield. Both are for boc size x. I was wondering is it worth spending nearly £27 extra for alushiled. Thanks

I thought as much, as I couldn't possibly see myself justifying that ammount extra on ar/he mix. just out of interest does an ar/he mix actualy give better welds.
I also wondered how much people usually get done out of an x size bottle. I am planning on welding a locost car chassis from scratch plus abit exta of other stuff and was wondering if people think it will last the whole job. I know this is a vague question, but wondered if anyone could help me out.
