The requirement for the inert gas used in tig welding is to stop oxidization of the weld whilst molten. Argon is used but any inert or Nobel gas should do the same job.
Has anyone tried tig welding with helium gas? I live in London and noticed that whilst Argon cylinders are hard to find Helium cylinders are easy to find, plus cheaper then Argon gas!
