I had the same problem a few months ago was giving me a headache I went for the parweld in the end on a Black Friday deal with Oxford welding suppliers think they still might even do a good deal

I would suggest trying AC/DC sets before making any decision if at all possible.

Horses for courses, I've got a client who bought a 300 amp Kemppi TIG a couple of years back and he said it's the worst set he's ever owned. Aircraft/nuclear/Lloyds approved welder and he couldn't get on with it from day one. Sold it for a big loss and bought an EWM off me last year.
Kemppi make good gear but their user interfaces have always been horrendous.

If I can leave my wife home from the trip to Oz this year I could afford the Kemppi. I wonder if she'll volunteer to stay home?

I have access to a few other machines which I can have a play with; Millers and Jasics but that's about it.

Go along with that Jim.When Kemppi made the Tylarc range,offshore they were the best of the best.They have gone into electronic in a big way.I was talkig to Mike Pixley,he has Kamppi through and through

Kemppi make good gear but their user interfaces have always been horrendous.

They do and yes not user friendly at all. But........... They are all pretty comparable to be fair when you start picking out of 3k units. Unless you really know your stuff you'd be hard pushed to notice differences at the blue light.
I've welded lots of Alu for years with lots of different kit and I can tell differences between them as subtle as they may be.

Jim sells CEA machines and I can warrant from a non bios point of veiw it's good gear. Don't know the gubbins inside from a build quality PoV but regarding blue light they are (or at least were) up there with the best of them.

Our part-time accounts lady, that was a while ago though, she drives a battered Mondeo these days lol.

As for CEA they are clever bunnies, their pulse MIGs have some serious arc quality, not super impressed by the overall look of them but it's what happens at the arc that counts.
