Interesting, that's something I never considered, I'll have to check my policy.... I do my welding in a detached garage (concrete floored block built), but I think I'll have bigger problems if the garage catches fire and then burns my house down since it's over 50m away.Most household insurance gives you no cover at all for welding unless you disclose the fact you are doing it
I have foam tiles on my wooden shed floor, laid before I decided to get into welding. That's why I got myself set up to try TIG, keeping MIG & MMA for outside when the weather is suitable.
No problem at all with the TIG, as said I just have a fire extinguisher to hand in case but haven't felt the need to reach for it [yet] - I weld on a steel top.
