Inverter / Micro controlled TIG
Yeah, had given much thought to a micro controlled unit with Inverter supply, but decided as I have little in the way of real experience of writing micro firmware code and as for hardware, the ferrite transformer cores are harder to source also I had a big old stick welder transformer just sitting there begging for a project so the project evolved as it did.
The idea of a simple micro unit appeals, as does Inverter type supply but right now time is at a premium at work and my spare time at home is directed to designing a Multi Spark CDI Ignition with Hall effect sensors to replace the old points system in my '79 Yamaha XS650 so the welder upgrade has to take a back seat for a while...........if you would like to have a go at such a device I know there would be great interest as I have had littlerally hundreds of emails from folks either building the TIG unit or planning too.
Some of course requested a simplified micro driven unit.... :-) Dave
