Tig Welder

Hi All

I am looking to buy a Tig welder for our new sheet metal shop, we will be welding stainless, aluminium and mild from .8 to 8mm ish, mostly the thinner stuff, We have three phase if necessary. This will be used a lot so I would rather buy something decent that will last.

What do people recommend?

300 amps top end I would suggest so that 8mm Alu can be dealt with. What is your budget. Just about all high end brands offer machines in this amp range.

Up to 2k at a push. I have had a look and there are so many different types and options so if anybody can recommend a few good ones it would be a starting point.

For a new 300 amp machine 2k isn't going to be a "high end" brand. Would you consider a used machine.

I've got a lovely Miller Syncrowave 250 you can have for £2,000 + VAT.

Don't be fooled by the 250 name, I'll check but I'm pretty sure it's a 375 amp.
If you like for an extra £250 I'll throw on a brand new Weldtec SW320 TIG torch, 320 amp, a lot nicer than the heavy WP18 that's on it at the moment.
