Ithought this thread was about a welder not the work ethics and quality of our far east friends.
Basically but an EWM set get a good weld no hassel and low consumable costs.
Buy a cheap set and get frustrated high consumable costs A short set life and give up with it thinking you can not do the types of weld that others can do.
I welded 2 coke tins together within 5 hrs of having my set tring to see how thin it would go. (it would go lower but I could not find any thing thinner to weld) where as the last time I had used a tig before that I was struggling to weld 1.5mm aluminium with help from the 2 best welders I have ever met. I was putting holes all over.
I dont blame my tools as I buy the tools for the job.
Would you dig foundations for a house with a spoon???

These "Lifetime Warranties" are a total con! The fact is they are sooo cheap they can afford to just replace it, nothing to do with their quality!

I Just got a Rehmann Tig welder 200, i was expecting to be Chineese so... Thats why i got the 200A.
Cost me 150 quid (213 Euros) including Courier Shipping (the 4 day shipping was the shock). I mean if i was paying for a 20kg rock to be shipped from Germany to Greece it would cost about the same
The machine must have struggled during transport, some paint is on the cartboard.
I also snapped some shots of the insides. Quality is average and quite cheap inside with generous cooling though. Very Rigid handle too

Once my ewm inverter was out warrenty i decided to open it up and look inside, i soon closed it up and realised there were no user servicable parts in there and any fix was a job for the professionally trained

I just knew with my tig me proding bits with a 1/4 screwdriver blade was going to end in tears, Off to someone who knew what they were doing it went, to be fixed..

I was blowing the dust out of my migs one day and I was horrified how much dust was in them it was as bad as should that circuit board be brown and fluffy and where are the components.
I did this every few months and I thought I have 2 tigs that I have never opened 1 was about 2-3 years the other (110V version) was about 1 year old and these sets did not just do tig work they did cast stick work and all the site work where there was suitable power in the horrible dusty building sites as they were a far superior weld than my genset.
I took the side off the 110V one as it was the one that was dragged around the sites. yes I agree you could not touch it we have 5 computers in our office and there were more circuit boards in this set than the 5 computers we have put together. and they were stacked on top of each other. All around a cooling tunnel. I would hare for some thing to go wrong. You could not see daylight through them like the photos of a cheaper tig on this thread as it was solid with electronic circuit boards.
The most surprising thing was the fact even though they had never been blown out they did not have a spot of dust in them.
This is due to the Quality of the build they have a fan on demand this means that the fan will not drag the dust through them until it is required (when it is welding or when it is hot.) yes this is getting common on top end sets now but 10 years ago EWM were probably the only manufacturer to do this.
Also the fan was in a tunnel running through the centre of the set and all the components that need cooling are in this tunnel and the circuit boards are in a almost sealed outer case that is steel this is not seen on any other single phase inverters.
These sets are a different breed.

I just need a bottle of argon, flowmeters, tungsten, consumables, a project and a mask.
It would be interesting if we had an inside pic of a modern tig machine.
you have photos of a modern DC set inside on previous pages if you are buying a DC set un less you are looking in an EWM set and you see what you are paying for.
Even my old step controlled migs from EWM (Wega 400 water cooled) have more electronics inside than that tig.
The AC side of a tig is the bit where you get the Electronics.
EWM do look frigile and over complicated inside but they as we have proved are probably the most reliable set on the market and when I tought a lad that has never toched a tig in his life before how to tig alloy in less than 30mins they are not over complicated as they do the job for you.

Inverter Fusion use that same system. A very common problem with failed Inverters is grinding dust being sucked into the machine through the fan unit... pop!
With the wind tunnel cooling you don't get that... it's sucked straight out the other side without touching sensitive electronic components.
Another very common problem with Inverters is dropping them. All the internals in the IFL units are fixed in place in their own housings within the moulded nylon casing, so have nowhere to go should the unit be dropped. Matt1978 will tell you the same about his Lorch units.
These are just two important features on the higher quality Inverters that lead to a longer life & you just don't get on the cheapest stuff.
