Tig unit connections Murex transtig ac/dc 375

Any one out there got ideas on what the connections on the front of a Murex transtig ac/dc 375?

Looking at front, you have got water to torch, torch water return, Gas to torch. then there is also two other connections either side the torch connections. one has a '+' below it and the other has a '-' below it also there is the symbol for AC current a wavey line.

I have coupled the earth to the '-' and tried the tig torch and nothing but then i couple it to the '+' it fired up no problem, can anyone explain why?

Tig earth is normally +ve, torch -ve. There is a 66%/34% energy split, +ve/ -ve, so by making the work +ve, the torch (eg the tungsten) is the cathode, is kept cooler and doesn't erode so fast.

Under usual circumstances, (but by no means all), if you were using the machine as a DC MMA powersupply, you would use negative earth. Some electrodes or situations would use positive earth - it's that energy split again.

I use earth positive for steel MMA.

Do you have any other info for the welder besides whats printed on the case? I have a 375 transtig too...

Theres footpedal sockets and things on them aswell iirc, been a while since i used a transtig.

the 360 looks nigh on simlar to yours theres a manual for that which looks as if it should reveal all.

Thanks Hugh, and Snowcat. Unfortunately it looks like BOC didnt just use the murex 375 and rebadged it. I went through the murex 375 and 360 manuals and the photo linked and they dont seem to match up to what I have.
Here is a poor photo of mine, I also noticed it also has a water cooling unit with a rad cap affair mounted underneath a flap on the top, and analog current meters. It could be that boc repackaged the murex internals along with a watercooling setup and a few other bells and whistles and put it in their own custom case.
I think ill go through the murex docs again and see what I can match up symbol wise to the unit and just bite the bullet, its probally more my unfamiliarity with tig sets than it being really weird...

HughF, Ill have a crack at identifying all the symbols off the other welder manual, I think theyre all the same symbols just in different places, so wouldnt want to be lazy by default
