Hi all,
I just bought a small, cheap multiprocess welder. A Reboot RBM-1600. Surely a toy compared to the machines I've seen mentioned here but hey... it's mine now
It comes ready and equipped for GMAW, FCAW and MMA but also has a LIFT-TIG function. No TIG torch in the package though. I will buy one later on.
My question is: what would be the problem if I buy a MIG torch connector (the machine has a MIG Euro connector) and put it on the TIG torch. It would get gas and current through the connector but also, conceivably the power control afforded by the torch button that I otherwise wouldn't have. Maybe even gas control. Obviously I would suppress the MIG electrode wire feeding while using it for TIG. Any obvious issues with this plan that jumps at people with more experience in this than me (which is to say any).
Thank you for any light shedding. Cheers.
