Well again you can get gas through dins sockets. All these parts are easily obtainable so you just need to either buy it seperate and put it together or get a manufacturer to supply you one built up or phone tecarc and see what they have for it.

Just need to sort some argon out now
Are cheap Chinese consumables worth it or not?obviously dont want to pay top dollar to dip the tungsten while learning

But i found it reasonably straight forward
Ran a few non filler runs,stabbed the tungsten once or twicegot going again and added some filler
Easier than i thought it was going to
I'll take a pic if the test piece later
Lad helping me also had a go and was surprised how quiet the process is

Always use filler if welding steel. You'll likely get porosity if you don't.
Stainless welds lovely with or without.

Only steel i could get my hands on quick was 8mm plate
I started with a 2.4tung at 140amps
Welds felt cold to start untill the plate got warm

Too cold for 8mm. Your starting current should be getting up to 180 amps.

Top pic i started at the bottom and worked up.the lad did the runs where there was too much arc length and gas got blown off

I did one a while back
By the look of it you were a little steadier I was but you've let the heat take the edges away. Not easy things to butt weld at 7 amps.

7!! I was messing about and think 2.4tungsten and 40 amps

Didnt take me long....

Well either your or my machine must be way way out. At 40amps on mine that blade wouldn't be here now.
Either way it's a decent job. Yes 7 amps I used.

I wound mine down to 10 (its lowest )i probably should have changed the tungsten
That black mark is where I was trying to get a puddle on the plate but it just wouldn't melt
