I’m just starting to teach myself TIG for the first time on my Parweld 201dti multi process machine. I have welded fine with stick and MIG with my arthritic right thumb but finding a way to hold the TIG torch comfortably is a pain (literally). The problem is that the distance of the button on the neck from the tungsten holder means that the business end of the torch is protruding from my fingers to be comfortable and balanced. See photo 1. I can just about get round it by altering my grip and twisting the handle and button with respect to the tungsten holder but this is not particularly comfortable.
Can anyone recommend a torch that I could hold like a pen with just a short distance between the button on the neck and the tungsten holder and maybe with a flexible neck? Photo 2 shows how I would like to hold the torch and is pain free but you can see on my existing torch that the button is then too far back to be operated. The torch needs a Euro type connector.
Thanks, Guy
