I agree, for me slight difference though. Root gap 2.4mm using the 2.4mm filler wire as a spacer and on my DC tig off the dial 120 to 130 amps and away you go. This is on steel pipe though

The 2.4 gap 2.4 filler is ok if your feeding into the leading edge. I tend to root from 6 o'clock to 9/3 o'clock with my filler going through the root gap so that my filling arm can prop on top of the pipe. It's a very comfortable position for me. In this case the gap needs to be slightly bigger than the filler because it will pull in slightly and will grab the rod.
Everyone has there own technique and as long as you have full root pen and fusion it doesn't matter how it's done. I have tried lay wire in the root and I can't get on with it unless I do it by holding the wire in the leading edge so I just do it on the filling passes.

I can definetly see how that can be an advantage, as it is a real pain in the a#$ doing it upside down. The smaller the pipe the harder, the bigger the pipe the more fatigue

this is the best way to root heavy wall low temp pipe dab it on the bottom and itl go flat or under flush the wire pz6513 is so fluid hold it at a tangent with the wire above the inside edges and feed it continuous around 130 amps should look like a stick of tofee look inside the butt as you get to 8 and 4 gravity takes over you can either dip it or keep the wire in up a bit more on the edges on big diameter stuff you can fashion a rod rest out a loop of filler wire like an snp badge push it in the prep and twist, twist to remove and slide up the prep,once you master this technique you can fly round a pipe with crazy high currents and low heat inputs keep the wire in because if you remove it the pool will run wide and you will get excess pen like tom cats balls
