Why would it need to be heat resistant? How hot is it going to get?
As it's on your finger, I would say your finger is going feel the heat way before it suffers any damage.

With coppper (that was the Cu bit) it gets nice and toasty real quick.

Couldn't agree more BP, but it might be handy for some people, esp people with poor hand moment, if fact I can think of a mate, that might one

Thanks I do know what the symbol for Copper is. Regardless of what you are welding, the end/back of you finger, will be closer, therefore you will move before it burns

it has never melted as it is silicone and extremely heat resistant.

The discussion is not really relevant anymore, since it is already stated that it is heat resistant enough. It is just that with a dry tig glove the heat does take a while to get to your skin. This gismo will feel the rod directly. If it had a low melting piont, it would not surprise me if it would melt.

My initial comments may have seemed a little harsh and I apologise but remember those of us who have been welding donkeys years were all complete novices without a clue in the beginning, all we can do is pass on hints and tips that we used when we were learning.
Devices like these and TIG pens etc can be a good gadget for those who are maybe only going to be welding once in a while, but if you want to get the most from your welding you are better starting the correct way and mastering the techniques otherwise you can start to pick up bad habits which become hard to break

Would help with feeding mig wire when welding thin steel, I keep loosing the wire every time I let go.

Hi guys i wil respond to your messages tonight when i get back from work. I think some of you have it the nail on the head when you say that this is not for people who are already accomplished welders, but more for people learning or who have perhaps struggled to master the art of feeding the filler wire. I am sure we can all remember getting frustrated by constantly daubing the tungsten with the filler rod and having to stop, regrinding and starting again. thats not to say an expert welder won't benefit from this either, I had been welding for 8 yrs prior to making these and was coping fine i just find it easier with my little ring.speak to you later.
