First of all I would just like to say "hello" and what a superb forum (even if over my head). I am impressed with the knowledge and help given out here, and was hoping a little advise could be put this way 
Having had a mig in the past, so I am not a complete novice, I would like some guidance please on purchasing a new welder. Just so you understand my needs I have recently got an itch on a new project which is going to need welding up. The parts in question are 304 stainless and are all 1.5mm to 2mm thick which will need welding together, so I am assuming I will need a tig welder.
A couple of other projects I will be carrying out in the coming months however will be around 5-6mm 304 so I need to bare this in mind I guess. It would be really great if I could use a plasma cutter to, however I only see cheap China set ups with the 3 in 1 function and this concerns me a little and I could always cut my parts on the bench with my caveman tools and get by I suppose. I also dont want to spend money but it is far worse to waste my money, so what I have read and seen so far best for my money is Tig160PDC by R-tech.
I must admit while its got a good write up and company looks solid, compared to mig this is expensive to me especially with having a poorly paid job and the price of argon, mask etc...
However if this is what it costs, then I guess i must bite the bullet. Can anyone please please advise a better deal than this and where to buy the gas from bearing in mind I have no reg or bottle to fill.
Please be gentle with me my head hurts with looking at so many welders. Thanks Steve
