Tig, Mig, Flux or Arc

well the dryer is not hard wired to the out put from the box. in the last two pic's there is a black box were the dry gets plugged to (they wrote 220 on the wall to). so from the box the hard wire is the orange wire which goes to the black box which it a three prong outlet that the dryer uses. then the input for the welder is 230 volts, 21 amps, single phase, 60 Hz. my circuit breaker for the dryer is rated @ 30A. so i think i should be good up to that point. then i would need a heavy duty extension cord as you said. dose that sound right to you?

Up date.

I bought the mig welder. I was not shore of what mig wire to buy so I bought the biggest one at the store .035. I also went to home depot and bought a 30/50 amp dual angle plug and 35 feet of 0 3/c 10 awg @ 300v and a splice kit since the welder did not come with a plug. Hopefully tomorrow the parts for the car in. I also stopped in the paint section of home depot to see if i could find some sort of paint to protect the welds. but the person i spoke to said that their was nothing that he knew of in the store that would do the job and told me i should maby go to auto zone or pepboys. any ideas on what i should use?

That is the worst brand wire available. I think I said not to get it from HF. It might work though. HomeDepot has Lincoln Electric SupraMIG L-56 (er70S-6). Get 0.030".

Now you will need gas and a regulator unless you had planned on going with gasless.

i didn't catch that. Yes I do plan on going gas less trying to keep cost down. this was an unexpected project. Maby later on in the future ill get the rest of the stuff for the gas. Tomorrow ill return the mig wire from hf. I'd rather do the job with whats recommended. thanks

Ok the get the gasless wire at HomerD. It is Lincoln Electric NR211 0.030 wire SKU 391899.

Going gas will require buying a tank and regulator and gas, probably $250. Refills are usually less than $50 and atank will last several reels of wire.

Gasless will work on that metal.

Oh, on the paint, auto parts store may have a primer.

i think i may need more then just primer since its right in the wheel well. i don't know the name of it but its black and almost like a coat of rubber.

You would want undercoating for the inside of the wheel well and probably some paint to match the inside.

I bought the wire came out to like 12 and some change. I kind of messed up tho. I brought back the little portable generator i bought. i thought this part that i bought would cover up the entire affected area but it doesn't. so i have to go back and buy the generator. thats gonna have to wait until this weekend when i sell thies extra struts i have. I was kinda on the verge of not doing the job at all tho, so i went to get an estimate. the guy told me around two hundred. but I'm just gonna do it on my own hopefully the kid buys the struts
