Pure argon sadly - needs to be a completely inert gas to protect the tungston. (Obviously not the same trouble with MIG where the electrode constantly replaces itself).
is it possible to tig weld mild steel with argoshield light or does it have to be pure argon even for mild steel? I have a bottle of argoshield for the mig and just aquired a tig welder to play with for a while so not really wanting to fork out for another bottle. Did use a disposable bottle a few years ago on a tig which i think lasted about 5 mins
cheers guys

too rich unfortunatley zardoz, u need carbon dioxide mixed with a bit of argon.
argon is fine for stainless and ally, not for mild though too high a weld.
