Quick question. I already have Coogar5 gas for MIG welding, but having ordered a TIG welder - which has yet to arrive, I was wondering if this will be okay, or should I order some pure argon (frankly I'd rather not if possible).
Pure argon for TIG. The CO2 and oxygen in Cougar 5 would burn the tungston. Doesn't matter for MIG wire as that's being replaced all the time, but for TIG the tungston just sits there and burns away.
TIGs tend to consume more gas than MIG with the pre-flow, postflow and speed of welding. I went for a half sized (Y) bottle for mine.
