TIG filler

Hi all,
Can any of you techie types (Technical Al) recommend a suitable TIG filler for EN8 machined parts to CDS or DOM tube. This is for car suspension parts - wishbones, link arms, etc. Will the parts need heat treatment on completion. Thanks W/A

i wouldn't have a clue which one would be best but it might give you a start. it might be a case of looking at the composition of en8 and choosing a similar coposition filler rod.

i did look and couldn't find anything that close to en8, but it was only a quick look

Done a bit more research, seems EN14 is a more suitable for welding and used for suspension parts, have to check availablity. W/A

En8 and En14 can both be welded using standard mild steel (usually called A15, A17 or A18).
The En14 should be straightforward but the En8 may need a preheat depending on thickness. A 100 oC should cover upto 1" thick.
There are quite a few different En8s out there at the moment, some with high carbon that crack easily. If you have a choice choose the lower carbon or one made in W Europe.
