TiG demo

I meant to mention, following my recent appeal for getting a little tig welding job done, I popped up to Noz-all's near Cheltenham last week for a demo only to discover, I seem to have the rudiments to make a tig welder work (of sorts ).

I'll confess, it was all a bit overwhelming to begin with as there seem to be soooo many variables to contend with but they were very patient and I think I came away with just enough knowledge start learning.

So, look out, I'm about to start worrying this section of the forum!

It's a much more enjoyable form of welding, I find almost relaxing.

I have both Tig and Mig, and whenever I weld nowadays (which isn’t very often) I try to use the Tig every time, just to get the experience.
It’s a much calmer, more civilised way to connect metal together.

Tig welding is like fly fishing, a fine art for the best.

Mig is just carp fishing

My main issue with TIG is it requires two hands.
I can't stop my hands shaking unless holding onto a MIG torch with both of them, even then it's not great.

Stupid question. Why isn't there a TIG setup that auto feeds the filler??? maybe there is??

There is. It's called TipTIG. Expensive I imagine though

Got a right surprise when I tried the AC on ally , I sometimes use ear plugs now to help with the difference
