What would be a good selection of TIG rods and consumables to cover a range of basic fabrication and repair jobs in Steel (sheet and angle), Stainless (probably 316/304/409) and Aluminum (mystery metal castings etc)?
I'd like to keep a few in stock to cover commonly encountered projects, and also have plenty on hand while I'm learning as no doubt I will be wasting a lot. On the other hand I don't want to go too mad on stuff I'm not likely to use.
I found this thread:

I'm thinking the following should give a good starting point?
Steel - A15 (perhaps also some A18)
Stainless - 312
Aluminium 4043 (perhaps also some 5356)
For Tungsten:
2.4 Lanthanated
Is this a reasonable selection?
