I always like to be looking at something rather than looking for it, so as I'm on the cusp of buying my first TIG welder, I thought I would ask what torch consumables and filler rods would be a good starter stock.
I will probably have WP26 and a WP9 air cooled torches to begin with, the welder will probably be somewhere between 200 and 260A
I'll be practising on mild, stainless and aluminium, nothing very thick, 2 maybe 3mm max although I have some heavier bits of mild I may drag out. I'm going to be asking a mate to get me some bits of scrap from their skip so I may get some more variety then.
I'll be looking through the various tables to see what type of tungstens and what size/type of filler rods but if anybody has a list a shortlist of essentials, that would be useful.
And do I need to get a lens or two.....
Cheers
