Thanks to the good offices of @julianthegypsy I have been ogling this TIG box for the last couple of weeks. I've given it a clean and replaced all the cracked paper capacitors inside. It's a beautifully made PCB. I understand it's connected in series with the welding supply, either AC or DC. Some of the front panel icons are Greek to me, so I would appreciate any insight into how to use this, and what they mean.
I guess the top right 'A' knob will have no effect unless it's connected to a sensing unit via the four-pin socket just beneath. I intend to use this with an oil-filled 180A AC unit so current control would be made in steps on that, or with a 130A DC arc welder with a potentiometer that would offer finer control.
I surmise the central lower two-pin socket is for an on/off switch to start and stop the arc. Some of the TIG torches I have in a box from a job-lot purchase have buttons taped to the torch handles with the same two-pin connector. The middle knob could be a slope-down control? The toggle switch could be HF start on or off, or just whole unit on/off? I have no idea what the dynamite/birthday cake candle symbol on the binding post under the toggle switch means.
On the back is a gas-in hose and a mains lead. It's currently wired for 110V.
I have a couple of manuals for more modern versions of this box. ESAB have not replied to my query about whether they have a manual available for this older model.
