My intention was to buy a Welder on the 23rd of December so that I could get to grips with the subject over the Christmas holidays. Fail ! ! ! Five welding supply shops in Shropshire and every one of them has been closed. :-(
So, the last 9 days has given me plenty of time for internet research.
The welder will be for home use making stuff like Garden sculptures a couple of motorcycle stands, light fabrication with mild steel tube, box section and angle etc.
I'd like to buy from a local supplier for ease of sorting out problems and seeking advice.
Once the shops have reopened in the New Year I will be seeking advice but for now I have shortlisted a few contenders and wondered what the knowledgeable folk here thought.
Thermal Arc 175 TE HF £440
Jasic Pro 180 DC £468
Esab Buddy Tig £500
All the above come with leads and a torch in the box. The rest of the welding paraphernalia, regulators, gas and consumables will obviously need to bought also.
I won't be doing any Aluminium alloy stuff and the thickest metal I can ever see me doing is 1/4 inch angle.
Your thoughts on the subject would be appreciated
