First posting so hello to all, still ploughing my way through the various posts, so much useful information.
I'm afraid it's the old chestnut...which ac/dc Tig, suitable for 240vac input
I'm in the market for an ac/dc machine, I've been using a GYS 160 Tig for over 10 years but would like the ability to weld aluminium, the GYS has been a good machine although it's fair to say it's had a charmed life.
I would like a good quality machine, I'm not keen on buying used, unless it came from a know source (unlikely)...don't fancy forking out 1K to 2K on something that might fail a month later.
I'm not professional and will not be flogging the set daily for hours. The aluminium I'll probably be welding will be up 4/5mm, occasional classic motorcycle casing repair, that sort of thing.
Looking through previous posts the Lorch Handy Tig looks a nice machine but I'm sure there are others, foot pedal control would be a nice option...
Any suggestions/advice is most welcomed...thanks.
Dave.
