Ticketmaster. Arghhh!!

My wife is a big Wet Wet Wet fan and wanted to go to their concert this Saturday at Edinburgh Castle. I bought a pair of tickets back in March for her and a pal to go (because I set up a Ticketmaster account years ago to buy tickets back then.) I'm too busy to go/hate crowds/don't like the music so there's no way I am attending. No. Way. I get an email through today from Ticketmaster with a few details of the concert including the line "... the lead booker must attend the concert with corresponding tickets and photo ID ..."

It's my name on the tickets. I'm the lead booker.

I've tried phoning but their line is closed. Sent an email, but I'm pretty sure the response will be "Tough luck" if my Google search is anything to go by.

I don't buy tickets very often. 2012 was the last time according to my TM account history. I've never come across this before. A warning for anyone buying tickets for a present to someone else: make sure their name is on the ticket!!

Just come back from Coldplay concert in Dublin on Saturday, booked through Ticketmaster, the ticket purchaser was present but no ID checks.

They're not looking to make people's life difficult but just trying to stop tickets being sold through touts.
I'd expect that if your wife and her mate turned up with your driving licence then they would have no problem at all.

Last three events I went to all insisted that ID was required, but:

Grand Tour filming - checked ID and frisked us(!)
Elbow, Edinburgh - didn't check
Hyde Park - didn't check

I'm pretty sure that turning up with your ID disproves that you sold the tickets so they'll be ok.

Write a letter, stating that you bought the tickets as a present for your wife, and friend, sign and date it, have your wife take her ID,

They would struggle to refuse her.

After an hour on hold I got through to TM.
They booked a new set of tickets with her card in her name and refunded my card with the same amount.
Tickets on collection at box office.

That screeching noise in my ears has stopped.

same in liverpool with TM's 'no ticket method' said I needed photo id but when there they didnt want to see photo id just the paying card swiped. and I took all the email stuff printed off just in case but it was just quick scan and in !!

the entrance for no tickets is a separate door they stand just outside at the barriers with mobile card scanners.

She knows I don't fall for the helpless female act. Odds are she'll phone after getting lost and expect me to give her directions. I've hung up on her more than once when she's been hysterical. That makes her worse for a little bit until she gets it out her system.

then run if they dared to argue. She can kill a man at 10 paces with just her tongue.
Actually heard that as they have got older the 3WETS have mellowed a little, they are now just----- DAMP DAMP DAMP.

My other half looks like Keanu Reeves. The John Wick version, not the Neo version. Lucky me.
She doesn't give in when there's a bee in her bonnet, but I try not to get her too wound up.
Her brother used to be a roadie for the 3WETS when he was at college and before they were well known. Not my cup of tea. I'm more a Steve Earle/Copperhead Road fan

I have an 'indoors that thinks that whichever way she is looking, is north. She also ambles along in the left lane of a motorway and doesn't read signs, then she gets lost. My solution for the inevitable 'phone call...

Use the iPhone "FindmyFriends" or "lost my iphone" tracking feature to see where she is and giude her from there (she thinks it is witchcraft). Either that or I can go and find her which I had to do after she got lost following me around Gatcombe park area after the Middlebridge event.

I told her to get her non-driving passenger to get the route in her phone and navigate. Leave me out of the loop. My wife gets right and left mixed up at times, not great.

She's also a scrub nurse in theatre just to give you all something to think about next time you're in for an op.
