Was any one else watching the thunderstorms stretching from south germany up and into denmark yesterday on blitzortung site, this was going on all day and i believe finished about 3.am this morning, at one stage on the map, the strikes recorded for a 40 min period would have covered a good chunk of the uk, over 440,000 strikes were recorded, and so much hail came down at one point that sledges could be brought out,

dunno about that i was working in some flats a few days ago and thought it was 2 close for comfort so stopped working and stood at door watching . next minute a great flash and a bang 50 yards away the bank roof was hit and blasted a load of tiles off . ive been to a fair few houses on callouts that have been struck and i keep away from anything metal and wiring i dont fancy being microwaved. here http://policehour.co.uk/2015/07/hsbc-bank-cordoned-off-by-police-in-yarm/

Ive been watching netweather but I was concentrating on the UK.
Its very accurate. They showed the lightning over us exactly when it was happening. I dont really know why that surprises me.

I was sacred once when me and my eldest son were golfing (he would have been about 14). We were playing on a course which is very high. It started lightning all around us. You could see it striking the ground. We left the clubs, took off the spikes and sat on the ground in an open space. Why I decided that was best I dont really know.

because electric takes the nearest path to earth . u stood up makes a good lightning conductor. u might only be 6 foot of the ground but it will be the shortest path

a lot can rise up from the ground it was only known when someone had a high speed camera and showed it in slow motion
i was told one of the safest places to be, inside your vehicle, in a eletric storm, is this true anyone

yes it acts like a faraday cage your insulated in side. and the lighting flows round the vehicle

No - the current flows round the car and to ground. 3 inches of tyre isn't going to stop a lighting bolt that's travelled 20,000 feet,

I was once in a Pub (Ulley for anyone who knows the area) when a thunderstorm struck. After a while an old green Moggy Thou rolled up and the couple inside came into the Pub. They were a bit shook up but fine. A lightning strike had hit their bonnet just as they pulled into the car park.
Its 40+ years ago so my memories are a bit sketchy but I remember the scorched bonnet (I think)

That's why/what I've wondered. I know the old belief is that it comes down to ground, but seeing as electron flow is the opposite way, it should suggest it goes up instead.
