There's loads of them. I was looking for zippo inserts a while back, and you can get them for them also.

Just look about on amazon etc. Theyre not hard to find at all. There's one that makes an X shape with the arc, which is kind of cool.

I'd imagine getting quite an electric buzz if little finger got in that arc?

Say the arc is 10mm. The dielectric breakdown voltage of air is about 3 million volts per meter. So, at 10mm, youre looking at about 30,000 volts.

Current will be minimal though, obviously.

30kV, or thereabouts, would be the striking voltage, but the voltage across the electrodes, once the arc is struck, would be much less.

Numerous studies have shown that traditional butane fuel is extremely toxic to humans

Err, you're deliberately inhaling tobacco smoke for the next five minutes, does removing a few seconds of burning butane really make any difference? Especially if you're replacing the butane combustion products (You know, water and carbon dioxide) with genuinely toxic oxides of nitrogen and ozone created by an electric arc?

Has anyone ever seen one of these studies? I've looked and can only find the opinions of stoners on Grasscity and Bluelight.


Having said that, it looks friggin awesome and the only reason I haven't bought one is that link is in the US.

Don't smoke anymore but when I did I much preferred to use a zippo over butane etc. Some people dislike the flavour it gives the cig, I liked it

One lighter with no gas and another with gas but wont strike a spark, two lighters to do one job was a regular thing at a friends house

Ha, done that many times, and used the gas axe, or a nice fat glowing tack on some scrap

yep and that "clip clip" from the zippo was part of the smoking enjoyment

Indeed! Slightly less enjoyable was buying a real tree camo zippo and then losing it the same day whilst shooting

Often used a 3.25 after the end was ground on bench grinder until red hot.
