not a inverter, a converter, a digital one at that, i think a 400A mig turns into about a 250A after the conversion, thats the penalty. a 400A mig is about 35v as is at the moment. if any of that makes sense. the makers of both my machines kemppi and miller say they have no problems with a digital converter, mind you both are out of warrenty now so maybe thats got something to do with it.

Did you actually get a quote for 3 phase? What is the problem, the price? How much did they want to charge you?
I had it put in for about 1k. I had to hire a digger etc, but it was very straightforward. 100A per phase.
I have since moved workshops and done it all again. Its not that big of a deal.

some guy is coming over tuesday or wednesday to look at the set up. it looks like i have a choice of who supplies the electricity, i am not sure yet who even does the connection the girl on the phone did,nt say. anyway it will take a bit of time it seems but i will manage. i need to talk to the landlord as well about who is going to pay for it (hopefully him/her). in this situation haste is no good as it will cost. i would rather proper 3 phase rather than a converter etc, i will have to balance everything up.
