On Wednesday I decided to do a job on the Audi A8 I'd been putting off for too long -timing belt replacement.
All was going pretty well and by the end of the day I'd got to the timing belt...
Taking the auxiliary belt and timing belt off was quick and easy, the problem came with the water pump, one of the M6x25mm bolts sheared...
Decided to try and drill out with left-handed drills, made a jig from 8mm bar stock to pick up off two holes either side (used the water pump for hole position). Worked a treat, the drill landed pretty central and the depth of jig game me good alignment perpendicular...
Cut a long story short(er), drilling out didn't work, so I decided to fit an M6 Helicoil, unfortunately with remnants of screw still in there the 6.2mm hole was badly gouged...
Question is, what's my best option now?
