Thoughts on this Proteus main 100A circuit breaker

I have a 100amp hager switch the same size as the proteus if u want it can post u it free gratice

the board used to fit mem double pole isolators and I've seen a fair few of them burn out . they no longer use that make

cheers BS problem I have is the misses is on at me to get it sorted asap I could mod the buzz bar in seconds to match the wylex as I have 5 of them, big issue is the kitchen is like a bomb has hit and the tumbler is pumping moisture around the house, its done 6 loads this week end sat on kitchen floor !

I have mot's most of the day and a recovery to do tomorrow.

would the wylex be a better option---------- coz I could do that NOW and am a little scared of the proteus stuff now !!

as long as it fits in ok and theres enough meat on the bus bar lug to give a good contact to take the load

I would go with what every you have to hand and then look at removing all the Proteus stuff in the not to distant future.

too me the wylex looks and 'feels' a lot better all round, than the original proteus, mind the older proteus switch I got, felt better than the new ones, even the tail lug was shaped with a slight vee housing to 'gather' the strands
I declined to buy anew one for that very reason,
A sparky mate had a spare switch he gave me to get it working.
but will have that nag in the back of my head now !!
ps and that is not the misses nag either

Thanks Lads for the advise today it has been great.

Well due to the rain in Brazil, it has stopped play in the kitchen, BUT thankfully, I'm a celebrity, come strictly dancing, x fucter ----- they all now CANNOT be effected, so I have had an official reprieve, from the 'entertainment' gods, as per the Metallica song title 'Nothing else matters'
Thanks Allan for the kind offer but think I will go down the wylex route and modding the buzz bar to accept it, it is only a matter of filing the copper down to match all the other forks but it means I can turn the buzz bar through 180 degrees longitudinally, because it is identical all along its length apart from the very first terminal fork which was the one heated by the bad switch, and then the modded fork will then be only feeding is a 6A rcbo lighting trip at the far end of the CU.

I have had more than enough bother with proteus and MSG both CEF own brand stuff. I've had MCB's fail out the box with one pole not closing etc. Don't have mutch faith in the stuff.

Do you mean MCG? They are dangerous $h!t I had one burn out this week.
Proteus no better, we use them in temporary installations on site, I wouldn't trust that sort of crap in a house.
If I were you I'd have the whole lot out and replace it with something decent.

I've just remembered that 3 phase MCG breaker failed in the OFF position but was still live on one pole and letting through 210volts on another lucky I measured it over all three phases,
bloody dangerous.

We've got bin liners full of them now as when they come back in they get bagged up so they can't go back out.
There is some real dangerous crap out there nowadays, cut price rubbish from China / Turkey etc. Stick to the brand names from proper wholesalers or you'll end up with fake rubbish.

Having seen the sobering pics of the Proteus switch I'm after some advice....

I'm after a wall mounted angled 3 pin blue 32A socket, Looking on the bay of fleas there are some no-name makes for a fiver, or Gewiss for just over a tenner.

What should I be paying and what brand ? I'd rather pay once get something decent and avoid burning down my garage.

I've always liked it, installed a fair bit of their IP rated gear at various stables where the biggest problem is mechanical protection from half ton horses using them to scratch an itch
