Thoughts on spool guns (for MiG welders)

It doesn't expand, the tip does. There are tips specifically designed for ally, they are a different grade of copper that copes better with the higher reflected heat, slightly more clearance and a more pronounced chamfer on the hole at the end. Ask your supplier for them and use the 1.0mm Alu tips for 1.0mm wire 1.2mm tips for 1.2mm wire etc.

I'll let everybody know how I get on when I attempt the job. It will be late Spring early Summer next year though. I have a new seat box to build for my 68 series 2a Land Rover. Rather than cutting up the original, which is in perfect condition, I want to start from scratch and build a brand new one but individually for both driver and passenger side. It'll make work on various parts so much easier in the future.

I did view some, not all of both clips. what I did view, well let me just say, I would not be passing on to our next generation welders. My use of the word "peeeeesh", was more of a warning.

I am far from looking for a public argument, Steve. Which is not beneficial for anyone.

If you wish to maintain high standards, then perhaps video clips showing bad practise should be deleted, or not allowed. If you know your al/al mig from your LCS mag, you will know what I mean. Have a good evening
