Only need a reliable mobile signal 1st, Lincolnshire may be flat - hence flooding - but carp mobile signal, village up the road none of there smart meters work.Luckily were in Lincolnshire so it will be years before it gets to us, runs off to find the tinfoil.....
That’s what I thought. I looked at the .gov site after Gazs comment and it needs a certain version of os to work. Not sure if that’s just to display the messages or what.I don't think this has anything to do with apps or updates. It uses features built into the GSM spec and implemented in the phone OS.
I was in holiday (Vancouver I think) they did a test and me and all the tourists in the café I was in wondered what was going on when all our phone's started making siren noises until you acknowledge the alert.
It's a good Idea, very secure and one day might be life saving.
