it doesnt, just located it and stops it coming forward and falling out.

yea i can see now the dilemer, is there a way of a longer thumb bolt to catch the thread on the inside ? or a nut and big washer on inside to pull the broken bit back

PS. It's a very clean break, no sign of long term cracking, has someone just been heavy handed on nipping up the bolt/thumb screw????

his young son decided to hit it with a hammer and broke it

i dont think there is enough space between the inner part and outer shell for that.
