Well I just sent the last invoice because the builders Merchant forgot to bill me for some shingle and ready mix. Now the old boy has gone off the deep end.

He left a voice message Last night ranting down the phone about the half pavers,gravel and that I havnt cleaned the old flags properly because they dont match the new ones.

I will send the final reminder and once thats expired start the small claims process. I genuinely believe he has dementia but that s unfortunately not my problem.

im sorry but if you expect old flags to look like new flags they will never look the same due to different mixing styles and different mixing properties whilst old styles are also different sizes
as goes for cleaning the flags they was cleaned enough to be relaid however sun bleached flags will never look the same as they are aged materials

i dont think its age related i think its down to someone wanting that bill lower by any means as they wasnt aware that prices have gone stupid with materials

ive seen the method used often when its end of the bill time due to bartering the end price down or trying too

I think its the fact that the client cant remember what he said/agreed to.

First he was going to go look at the pavers and order them. Then it was only use half new pavers, he forgot to order them .

He was aware that there was going to have to be some gravel going in to level it off,out the front I have laid the pavers ( including the cut ones) exactly as the old ones were laid,just now its all new and bob on.

The house was built new in 1985,he has forgotten what it looked like the day he moved in and I think the contrast between the old cleaned slabs and the new is too much.

He wanted it all done for cheap,I did what I could between the houses with what was already there,plus some extra gravel. He was aware that I had to put a fair bit of chip under at the front,I bought one cubic meter and ended up using it all. Its a good job right on budget but matey cant see the wood for the trees
