It looks Ok for what it is, but it isn't very much! Cast iron cylinder is a good point, but 6 litres and 4.5 cfm probably OK for an air brush and blowing tyres up.

thanks, so what would be a good buy for say painting car/van panels wheels etc. nothing too expensive as this will be more a hobby than a job.

It depends on what spray gun you will be using. Have a look around at the guns and they will tell you how much air they use. HVLP guns use more air than compliant guns. A spot repair gun will use less than a full size gun. Then have a look around at the compressors to get an idea what size you will need.
If you were to spray a whole car then I would say a minimum of 3hp and 150litre tank, as you don't want to be waiting for the compressor to catch up to give you enough air.
I spray 2K clear on bits the size of a single panel with a 3hp 100L tank and with a full size devilbiss compliant it has no problems. So I would take a guess and say you would probably be able to get away with a 50l tank and 2hp motor to spray a panel. If you get a spot repair gun like a devilbiss sri or sata minijet then a small compressor would be fine for panels and wheels.

Hi Jas welcome to the forum ,huge subject ,but whilst maintaining a very un-committed stance .....cfm is more important than pressure,,,,so more cubic feet per min is good,most air tools /spray guns require 4-8cfm at least,tank size,bigger is better 25litres is small50 or more is better.Motor size 1.5 hp is small 2-3hp is much better,then you have direct connect or belt driven ,belt being considered better by most...I recently bought an aldi special £85 25litre 2hp directconnected compressor,adequate for small jobs,sprayed my lads bike,used it for impact wrench and tyre inflation ,it would struggle painting a van as it would need to run whilst you are spraying,but it may still be possible if you do smaller parts....hope this helps ....Gav
