Got this today. Good machine or crap? I know nothing about them

Depends what you are needing to do with it I suppose.
I have one, never use it now but at one time when I was chopping up lengths of 8mm dia stainless bar it was excellent, much quicker than the bandsaw.

in which case it will be perfect for the few times a year when you want to use it

Good then
Basically they are just like big angle grinders except in a chop saw style. The vice can be angled so you don't just have to chop straight cuts.

As @brightspark says, on par with a Makita. I presently have a Makita model, and find that removing the clamp and switching to a wood blade also makes it a fine saw for cutting up firewood.
