Use hylomar to hold It in placeThe engine is throwing out oil now, from the rear part of the sump gasket which is rubber and has two semi circular seals fore and aft. They fit into a groove and the sump comes up and compresses it into the groove to seal.
What has happened is that rear seal got dislodged by fitting the sump, due to the sump's vertical transit being blocked by the one piece gearbox shield which can't be removed. The sump goes up and then horizontally into place as a result. I'm not sure that I can improve matters but I have to try. Maybe I could try a drop of Superglue to hold it in place?
I could really do without this as I need at least one nice day to be able to work on it outside again.
