I've been scratching my head over this one. A little while back I was restoring an old vehicle and used celly. On the small parts which I painted first the colour came out much more lustrous and deep. However when it came to spraying main body parts I found that the overspray left was rather bubbly in addition to the fact that the spray was not consistent. A greater concentration of thinners in the mix sorted that out but I also then noticed that the colour on drying and curing did not have the same deep and lustrous look (British Racing Green-Jaguar). So I added more coats. 23 in fact. and the colour still looked flat even though it was a match. So, now I have another DIY repair on the wife's car which I have been avoiding doing but can no longer. It is a metallic blue and I just fear that even though the paint for it has been professionally mixed that the job will not be an exact match and confirm in her eyes that I really am that useless *£$%"£@ she always accuses me of.
Anybody here got some tips on going about making sure the mix and pressure etc is just right before being irreversibly committed?
