Thinking of buying from R-tech soon?

Got an email today from r-tech that says if you quote SPRING15 either online or by phone before midnight on the 31st of march you'll get 7.5% discount, apparently you can also use the discount on their finance packages,

I know theres plenty of members on here pleased with their stuff so if you're thinking of buying from r-tech soon it might be worth buying a little sooner?

Yeah I had one two days after I purchased an Aluminium kit for my Mig 250. lol

I have to admit being a muppet so I deserve to pay more I guess. I was not sure how to fit the PTFE inner liner as @Double Boost did not include the fitting in his video review. lol But one I was told how to do it by Daz in Technical I started to test it. MMmm I phoned back to say it did not work ...I was convinced I had the right torch set as I had just used it to weld steel before fitting the ali roller and liner etc. So what could be wrong.

Ah me. That was what was wrong. I had decided to clean it and blow it out with my air line to make sure it was all squeaky clean. While doing that I had inadvertently clicked the Mig/MM switch to the wrong place. What a plonker I felt a right muppet I can tell you, but the help was there had I needed more support.

I have the TIG161 TIG MMA unit and must admit to thinking about getting the smaller torch, the 26 is bulky and heavy at times.

I don't think they relate to anything but 9 and 20 both use "series 2 consumables", 9 is gas cooled, 20 is the water cooled equivalent. The others use the bigger "series 3 consumables", 17 is smaller than 26 which are both gas cooled. 18 is the water cooled equivalent of 26. You also get 24 which uses series 8 consumables (Front loading, no backcap) and micro head torches which I think differ between each manufacturer.

I've got a 17 and I'm thinking of upgrading it soon to a flexhead CK9 with one of their fancy superflex cables. There's nothing wrong with the torch itself but the cable is heavy and stiff (Ooh err) and I'd like a flex head. £96 from Rapid welding doesn't seem too bad.

I do, but they are even more expensive than CK, if you want value for money you could do a lot worse than go for a Parweld Progrip torch.
I offer Weldtec torches as my top of the line and they are beautiful torches but even dearer than CK, but they are much better made IMO of course.

My current torch is similar to the Parweld; I don't like the ergonomic handle because it's uncomfortable to hold in any position other than normal and I don't like the thick heavy cable (Half the reason I want a new torch is to get rid of that). No switch is no big deal because I'm going to finish my foot pedal before I buy a new torch and strap on switches are available too. Also, the Parweld only has a 60% duty cycle vs 100% on the CK (Not that I'm likely to get even close to 60%). For only £20 more, I'd rather have the CK. I'm not after just after good value for money as such, more after a good quality torch so I don't mind spending a little more.

John, Just watched your mig liner change, Didn't R tec supply a thin tubular brass sleeve that replaces the one you removed?, I have a couple supplied by butters when I bought my mig, Sleeve supports the teflon liner for that first couple of inches and keeps the liner central to the roller groove.I thought they would be a common item.

No they dont come with that part. You have to cut the teflon into a V so it buts up to the V formed by the two rollers.

Very strange! I would have thought with all the problems feeding ally wire any extra guidance for the wire would have been welcome. Cant see the point of just letting the teflon liner go unsupported when the correct part is available, Or even make your own.
