Right, nothing guaranteed just now but thinking of adding a Tig to the man shed. If I’m gonna add Tig then it has to be AC/DC and as I already have a PortaMig 185 with optional spot weld timer (never used!) do I go with a recognised brand (not going cheap Chinese as I want a quality unit with service back up) or do I pay a little more and sell my Porta and get a 3 in 1 and something like the Esab Rebel?
Weldequip price seem competitive with Steve but I can’t really justify much more than £1500 for something I’ll only use infrequently unless like just now when I have a project in the garage. The sale of the Porta will offset some cost so it’s definitely doable.
Cant see me needing huge amps, most stuff I weld is rarely bigger than 2-3mm but I want the ability to do aluminium if I need to.
Opinions please.
Do I add something like a Parweld AC/DC Tig and keep the Porta or go all in and save a little space in the garage.
