Keep hoping...
One day, it might do some good.
I've no direct experience so I'm able to dream :-)

Likewise most teachers were uninspiring i was lucky to have some passionate science teachers that strayed from the curriculum on random tangents and taught me alotBooks I suppose, but mainly making stuff out of bits of the things I'd previously taken apart to find out how they worked.
That didn't always meet with parental approval, for example pulling 'Britannia' to pieces to remove the worm drive gear was important to me as I wanted the wheels to turn when I pushed it.
I'd like to say teachers inspired me but they were rubbish! I now know they were just below average people that were just trying to get through the week but regardless they were rubbish. On my first day at secondary school one teacher got three of us to stand up and pointed us out to the rest of the class, 'these three will never make anything of their lives...' was her opening gambit. Years later I realised she did it every year for her own entertainment but I was so frightened of what she had said I never told anyone until 35 years later. One Chemistry teacher was good and he taught me a lot about the subject and prepared me for life after school. Careers teacher.. excellent, army, pit or railways was her question.
The lecturer's in FE were very different and I really made progress after leaving school, was lucky to get an apprenticeship and student engineering placement which put me under the guidance of some people who genuinely could inspire.. things got much better from then on.
We were very lucky, our metalwork teacher had us making gocart bits during class. He gave up his time and money for anyone interested , we got to ( under his watchful eye) drive around the schools fields after hours in proper motorcycle engined carts that we all had a hand in building. Cant see that getting past the school board these days or finding a teacher prepared to give up their time unpaid

don't forget they need counselling as wellIt's all about liability now. Sadly there's no such thing as an accident - everyone rushes for their Solicitor's phone number when anything happens. Even if a person just witnesses an accident [I'm talking minor here, not blood & gore before anyone says......] they're deemed to have been traumatised.
don't forget they need counselling as well![]()
after it goes on facebookThat ought to be very effective....they'll be able to let the 'Counsellor' see their mobile phone footage.![]()
I wonder if it was an old bloke I met? His name was Dizzy Addicot - he was a test pilot and flew in loads of films including memphis belle. I have never googled him before but just did it now. I met hiv several times - he was in his late 70s and still flying. He got me a flight in a Folland Gnat which was pretty special - let me fly it for ages!

Getting a flight in a Gnat was really special.. I tried it in a Lightning, but there was a ministerial clamp down a bit before.
Neil Williams & Taffy Ritch were the guys who flew the Mozzies.
You might like to see this:Never met they but with names like that they mujst be Welsh. And talking of which Brian Trubshaw was relation of mine (for people who don't know - Concorde test pilot).
FizI have never watched a single video of that concorde crash. I saw it once on the news at the time and that was enough! Never got to fly on it. The best aircraft ever built. Such a tragic end and not really the aircraft's fault. 100% safe record until that happened!

The rather lurid header pic is misleading. The vid is JH sitting in a cockpit and relating what happened.
