yes I'm not sure, but as teachers and schools are measured more closely today I think things are probably better now, hope so anyway.

Thought about training to be a teacher in a Design & Technology department or a college, Then thought its probably not worth it as the funding probably isn't given to provide good tools & materials. Probably funding is given to the IT department so people can become less practival.

] could teach a class of 30 or more without classroom assistants et al . Were they 'super-heroes', or were kids more attentive [or in fear......

If I'd thought my previous would have only been a locked thread I 'might' have gone for it ;-)
I suppose its all about respect fro the teachers (at the time) certainly in my day no meant no, but today no seems to mean I'll think about that and for sure my mum/dad will back me up regardless.

When I was still at school and experimenting with sugar and nitrate my mates old brother told me about what his mates got up to one afternoon they collected a load of fireworks like air bombs and emptied them into metal container home made fuse and buried it in a fores close to were they lived in Watford. Apparently the crater was very impressive

If either of my grandchildren came home from school 'troubled' by what had happened there, their mother: my daughter in law, a Glaswegian sociopath and daughter of a 60+ Celtic supporting career hooligan would be straight up the school and offering whichever teacher had troubled her little darlings outside to 'sort it out', that's if she hadn't already lamped them on the spot.
Knowing how embarrassing mum can be ensures that the kids keep their troubles to themselves.
Things have certainly changed from the days when coming home from school in teacher's bad books was quite likely to get you even harsher treatment from mum or dad.

Not so much 'harsher' in my case, you just knew there'd be an inquest and who could be bothered with that.
Or, if you'd had the belt, you'd get "well, you must have done something to deserve it"......
One of my favourite films about my favourite aircraft - music pretty awesome as well.

Hey Fiz, I talked to the two guys that actually flew the aircraft in the film, there were only two operational ones, the rest were 'inked' into the film. Stirring stuff and way different to the way rules are applied now.
I wonder if it was an old bloke I met? His name was Dizzy Addicot - he was a test pilot and flew in loads of films including memphis belle. I have never googled him before but just did it now. I met hiv several times - he was in his late 70s and still flying. He got me a flight in a Folland Gnat which was pretty special - let me fly it for ages!
