im left handed and hold grinder in left hand . any cuts or injury would be to my right hand holding whatever i was cutting so he must be left handed as the cut is on the back of his right hand . i would presume clarke would take them back and do a comprehensive test on them to rule out faulty goods or miss use otherwise they could be suedThere's a future date on most discs these days. No clear warnings on any discs I've seen not to use them after the date. There are other warnings such as the speed limit. I've had a flip through the manual which came with a Makita grinder and there are no warnings in that about not using date expired discs.
The instructions with grinders usually have something about letting a new disc spin for a minute to make sure it's OK and there's no unusual vibration.
I suspect this is a bad batch of discs, which would have disintegrated whenever they were used. Nothing to do with the expiry date.
I can't see how he managed to injure his hand like that if he was using the grinder properly.

Has no one else noticed the title date 10th Nov 2001 or 11th Oct 2011. Surely if he can see into the future he would have know this was going to happen.
But then...
I too wouldn't mind betting he was using it as a grinding disc, To have one shatter in use is rare but for him to fit another and it shatter too is just too much of a coincidence.
