I have a very old brass street lamp on a cast iron post that my dad put up 75 years ago. Anyway last week a falling tree hit it and knocked the lamp top clean off the post. I’ve collected the bits and their brass (see photos) the ‘corner’ posts need refixing to the top and bottom and then I’ll reglaze it.
The corners appear to have originally been fixed with a rivet and the glass must give the whole thing rigidity.
It’s old brass gone green but otherwise solid.
Question 1 : does the green need to be removed before soldering? I presume so. I’ll do this with a wire wheel on a dremel if needed.
Question 2: Does anyone here want to do the soldering after I’ve prepped? As I’ve never soldered before. It’s in North Essex but I can deliver anywhere an hour from there.
I can take more photos of detail if needed.
