Don't they call it keyhole welding or something similar. I've seen to done when overplating on ships hills for strength.In some cases I can't do the edges hence this method.
Don't know why more people don't use it. Only ever seen it done on thin sheet steel.
I once did a break test - not very scientific just used a dirty great big sledge hammer - I gave up long before the welds did![]()
The key is making sure the hole is big enough to allow you to penetrate the bottom layer properly rather than just the sides of the top layer.Well that's a relief judging by the last 2 remarks. I will happily keep on plugging![]()
what does a heat mark on lead look like, does it colour?i do it a lot on lead when customers wan decorative items on the finished face but dont want heat marks from welding
