They walk among us. Foolish Car recovery phone operators.
Phone call form an engineer.
“Hi Boss, Van has broken down in Superstore petrol station. The key is jammed in the ignition, Yellow recovery company have been called and on their way.
This was at 06:05, I was already on my way to meet him for his review. He knew I was on my way. We had a bet, last to arrive buys breakfast.
0840. “Hi Boss, They have arrived, but sent the van who deals with the wrong fuel put in the van, according to the operator, why else would I have broken down in a fuel station. I have called them, another recovery is on their way”
I deceied that I will do his maintenance while I am waiting, should not be too long, mistake.
10:30, he calls at the start of“Pop Master.”
“Hi Boss, new recovery man has arrived, you will not believe this, Battery Assist mechanic. I have asked why. According to his report/call out. I have a flat battery and he is here to change it. We are sorting another mechanic, see you soon.”
I move on, he soon will catch me up. The Yellow recovery company can not be that bad.
12:10.
“Hi Boss, correct engineer has arrived, but can’t fix me, he needs special tools, what they don’t carry. I need to be recovered to Main dealer. I will call the office and let them know. I hope to see you soon.”
14:00.
“Good news Boss, recovery truck has arrived. But can not recovery yet, as wheels are on hard lock. The wagon will not fit under the forecourt roof, in recovery position. They have to close the fore court, drag me back on skids and winch me on the flat bed.”
I am now going home.
16:45.
“Hi Boss, at main dealer, they can’t do anything until Monday. Office are sorting a car for me. See you soon.”
15:00 I have rang the Recovery Company, whose vans are yellow.
I spoke to someone, after being messed around who was pleased to announce she was from the Exceptive office. They were not impressed when I said,
“Is that meant to impress me, it doesn’t”
I explained to her the whole sorry saga, she tries to say; “that they acted on information received from the driver. Etc.”
I explained to them, like their phone calls are recorded for training purpose and such.
I calming explained that at no point from the first phone call at the early hours did the driver mentioned.
He had put the wrong fuel in.
Had a flat battery.
He had explained in clear and simple details, what the issues was, where he was.
I have told them we want a full explanation off why it took 9 hours to recover our driver and vehicle and we want it by Wednesday next week.
She tried to explain that it will take 5 days to carry out an investigation so I would hear back by Friday. I said that is 7 days, not five. Oh we don’t work after 4pm on Friday. I said you claim to be 24 hours 7 days a week.
She didn’t have an answer to that.
The last I heard the company legal team have launched in, this will be fun to find the outcome.
Oh yes, he owes me breakfast, I have told him.
Completely the reverse of when I needed to be recovered.
