Thermostatic shower cartridges

Seems the temperature control has given up on on one of our showers. Barely getting warm. If i crank the flow up flat out I can get it to go a few degrees warmer, but still not useable.
Before I cough up £80 for a new cartridge, are these things serviceable at all?

im prob not goint to help but you got a pick of the shower

i fitted in mine a bar shower unit as the fitting is the same for meny units and screwfix do a cheap unit that lasted for 5 years before failing and only cost 80 quid for a compleate unit with hose and head

Not in my experience. They use a sealed wax-filled element as the temperature control, and it's that part which fails. The same principal as the thermostat in your car.

Don't think you can service them.
Few months ago I thougth I had the same, but the membrane in my geyser had gone.

Not even 3 years old, only the kids use that bathroom, so it's not even had that much use.
Sounds like I better just order a cartridge then.

No, but if you Google Divapor they have an identification service, you WhatsApp them a picture and they find you the part. You can then either order it or try looking for a cheaper compatible one

That's a very good point. The same cartridges are often used by different manufacturers.

My shower came with a warning that unequal hot & cold water pressure would shorten the life of the cartridge.

Vaillant diverters are simple devices compared to a shower cartridge

Ive de-scaled a few but they don't last much longer, swap it be thankful its not a £400 one
