hi can any one give me a little advise
i recently bought on auction a Thermo Dynamics cut master51 thinking it would be a good investment as a upgrade from a cut40 cheepe unfortunately in the heat of the auction neglected to notice a few parts missing off the unit namely the cutting torch and cable, one of the most expensive bits. How ever i managed to get part of the torch and cable from the seller great i thought just a few consumables and off we go problem came when i realised it also needed the quick fit ATM connector that connects the cable to the main unit was all so missing so i returned to my suppler to get what seemed to be abitof plastic that connects the two, to find is only supplied with a whole new complete torch / cable Assembly so reluctantly i bit the bullet and purchased one for around 300 quid, not such a cheaper deal now!! The good side is all connected up and works a treat excellent bit of kit. But now leaves me with an expensive virtually new torch and lead minus the ATM connector, which leads me in to my problem i previously purchased a Clarke plasma king 70 with you guessed it a damaged torch head and cable. But i noted the head and cable from the unused thermo dynamics minus the ATM connector actually fits physically a treat just need to know be for i turn the Clarke unit on whether the two heads are compatible after hearing horror stories about units blowing up due to incorrect dynamics. The model number of the torch from the thermo dynamics is an SL60, the model number for the original torch out of the Clarke is an A90. Both torches seem to have more or less the same power capability's as each other. the thermo dynamics has 2 extra wires going to the unit but all they do is sense the pip (parts in place) on the tip of the sl60 with the Clarke not having this facility I'm aware all you do with them is connect them together .Also i do not have a service manual for the Clarke and not sure which way round the remaining 2 wires go on the Clarke i no it is only a start switch but unsure if this has any relevance. I would appreciate any one who mite have come across a Simla situation with may be different units and different heads to shed a little light and give me a little more confidence to powering the thing up. thanks John GC computing
